JOSEPH C. PHILLIPS joined the firm in 1982 as an associate. In 1987 Mr. Phillips was made a shareholder in the firm. Mr. Phillips graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1977 with a B.S in Law Enforcement and Corrections, with distinction. From 1977 to 1979 Mr. Phillips was a Juvenile Probation Officer in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Phillips graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Dickinson School of Law in 1982. From 1980 to 1982, while attending law school, Mr. Phillips served as law clerk for the Honorable Dale F. Shughart, President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

During the course of his career Mr. Phillips' practice has involved primarily litigation of issues involving employment law, personal injury and workers' compensation. Mr. Phillips has successfully litigated cases in State and Federal Court and before the Workers' Compensation Office of Adjudication and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board. He currently devotes a substantial portion of his practice to workers' compensation providing representation and counseling to insurance carriers, third party administrators and self-insured employers. Mr. Phillips has written and lectured on various topics in workers' compensation for the National Business Institute, Council on Education in Management; the Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers' Compensation, and for his insurance and business clients. In 2011 Mr. Phillips was named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list under the practice area of workers' compensation.

Mr. Phillips is admitted to practice before all courts in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Federal District Court for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. Phillips is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Dauphin County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, The Defense Research Institute, and the Workers' Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
